One of the most-talked about superhero releases this year is Warner Bros. Pictures epic action adventure of DC Comics’ superheroine, Wonder Woman.
The film releases nationally at Ster-Kinekor’s IMAX and luxurious Cine Prestige theatres and cinemas in 3D on Friday, 02 June.
With the excitement mounting for the global release date, Ster-Kinekor has joined forces with Warner Bros. Pictures to present a once-off, exclusive VIP event screening of Wonder Woman on Friday, 26 May, a week before its official release. Taking place at the trendy Fox Junction at 1Fox Precinct in downtown Jozi, this promises to be a movie night to remember.
The evening includes a wonderful mix of great entertainment, with bands playing in The Good Luck Bar from 18:00, and a feast of delectable artisanal foods, craft beers and wine on sale before the movie starts at 20:00. Of course, Ster-Kinekor’s freshly popped popcorn and cold drinks will also be on sale. After the movie, the party moves back to The Good Luck Bar. Don’t miss out on taking a selfie with the life-size Wonder Woman and ‘photo opp’ standee.
Before she was Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), she was Diana, princess of the Amazons, raised on a sheltered island paradise and trained to be an unconquerable warrior. When an American pilot (Chris Pine) crashes on their shores and tells of a massive conflict raging in the outside world, Diana leaves her home, convinced she can stop the threat. Fighting alongside man in a war to end all wars, Diana will discover her full powers…and her true destiny.
Wonder Woman is directed by Patty Jenkins and stars Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Robin Wright, Danny Huston, David Thewlis, Connie Nielsen and Elena Anaya. The film’s anticipated classification is 13 (tbc), and the running time is 141 minutes. The film releases nationally at Ster-Kinekor’s IMAX, Cine Prestige and cinemas in 3D and 2D on Friday, 02 June.
Tickets for the exclusive Wonder Woman VIP event screening need to be pre-booked and paid for via the Ster-Kinekor website (www.sterkinekor.com – note the Ts & Cs) and cost R120.00 each. The anticipated age classification for the film is 13. Parents with children under the age of 13 are advised not to book tickets for them, as they will not be allowed access into the venue to attend this event or watch the film.
There will be cinema-style seating inside the venue, but it is unreserved on a first come, first served basis. The organisers encourage ticket-holders to arrive early to secure their seats, before enjoying the entertainment and indulging in the delicious food and drinks that will be on sale before the film starts. Secure parking is available at R20.00 (cash only) per vehicle.
The state-of-the-art screen is massive at 8m wide, and has been specially commissioned to fill the entire wall, to ensure that everyone enjoys perfect line of sight to the screen from anywhere in the venue. The amplified surround-sound system will fill the entire space to do justice to this superhero movie event.
Due to the fact that this is a fully-catered and licenced event, unfortunately no food or drink may be brought onto the premises. “However,” says Matsau, “we are confident that everyone will find something to their liking amongst the delicious array of artisanal food and drink vendors we have hand-picked for the evening.”
As a safety measure, the entire venue will operate as a cashless environment: no vendor will be able to process any cash payments but all bank cards will be accepted on the night.
