Media Personality/ -Bonang Matheba shared exciting news and the power plan to own 2017 in her latest interview with Destiny Connect.
Queen B* made it to the cover of Destiny’s June issue dubbed the Youth issue. We couldn’t wait to get our hands on this read soon as we saw that well-orchestrated cover.
Without wasting time – let’s have a look at major key things we learned from the interview.
Using social media wisely and taking care of her image
Bonang Matheba has become one the most powerful and influential personalities on social media. She now has millions of followers across her social media platforms Twitter, Facebook, Instagram. But that comes with a huge responsibility, you have to be aware of what you tweet or post, cause the world is watching. This also plays a major role in maintaining a good image for her brand and business. She told Destiny that everything is calculated and it’s not everything she posts on social media;
‘Everything I do online is calculated,… I share a certain part of myself with public and I keep a huge part of myself for me, for survival. My image is a big part of my brand and it’s become bigger as I’ve seen how important it is for my business.
The way I present myself is a money making business. It’s the show before the business. That’s why I invest so much time and effort in it unapologetically.’
More business ventures with BME (Bonang Matheba Entertainment)
Bonang also talks about BME which part will be a business that creates strategies and digital solutions to help celebrities, brands, professionals and influencers use the social media platform ‘efficiency and profitability’.
‘I see a lot of opportunities in online reputation management. There are many people, famous and not so famous, who need a bit of assistance in terms of handling social media, which is a phenomenon on its own.’
Her own App which is a partnership with Cell C
Queen B will be releasing her own App which will be a partnership with Cell C. Cell C subscribers will get free benefits, while other networks subscribers will be charged. Another way for Cell C to increase their numbers. The app will come with exclusive pictures, videos, blogs and snippets from her new reality show.
She’s getting her own Emoji’s
We’ll definitely it’s not just DJ Khaled or Kim Kardashian raising the bar. Bonang revealed she will be launching her own set of emojis called ‘Bmojis’ in July. The set will be created from the iconic publicity images.

And ofcoz’ the reality show ‘Being Bonang’
We are waiting for her newly announced reality show Being Bonang which will debut on Vuzu in July. This is a joint venture between BME and Legend Manqele’s BarLeader production company.
The show will feature Bonang in her day to day business interactions alongside manager Jay Badza, snippets of her romance with AKA, her very close bond with her mom, the interwoven and often exhilarating relationship with her cousin Tebogo “Pinky Girl” Mekgwe, and good times with her friend Lorna Maseko.
The production will also highlight how the now, more well-rounded, more successful Bonang has transcended beyond her ‘it girl’ status, with a successful radio show, massive public persona, and thriving MC career.
This will not be the first time Queen B* has a reality show – she started back in 2011 with a YouTube series titled ‘B*Dazzled’ which was a success.
Her much-anticipated book, releasing in June
‘…Her new book, which previously had a working title ‘How to Build a Brand at 29’
The book will release on 15 June – few days before her 30th birthday at Exclusive Books. The book will share her journey from childhood days in Mafikeng, the industry and her success so far.
‘I write about many of the career decisions I’ve made, including all the little secrets I’ve never talked about; all the mantras, methods, calculations and equations I’ve used to create this huge brand, as well as many of my interactions with other people in the industry – the things that didn’t make it to the tabloids because Bonang had to be the ice queen!’
She first revealed this during an interview with The Citizen (read it here).
Her own range of Revlon beauty products
Apart from ‘reported seven figures’ she made from Revlon deal as a global brand ambassador back in 2014, Queen B* will launch her own range of Revlon beauty products which will include; personal selections of ColorStay Gel Envy nail enamel and Matte lip colour.
‘Afer my lingerie collection, Distraction at Woolworths, this is by far the biggest thing that’s happened to me. it doesn’t feel possible that a girl from Mafikeng could one day have her signature on the beauty products of an international cosmetic brand!’
