Zoe Saldana was announced in 2012 to play legendary singer/songwriter Nina Simone in the biopic Nina, and it was shown at the Cannes Film Festival in May 2014.
Saldana is joined in the film by David Oyelowo (Selma, Red Tails) as Clifton Henderson, Simone’s manager. Nina also features Mike Epps, Ronald Guttman and Ella Thomas.
Screenwriter Cynthia Mort (The Brave One) both wrote and makes her directorial debut with Nina, which is produced by Mark Burton, Ben Latham Jones, Stuart Parr and Barnaby Thompson.
