As previously posted – Naija superstar , Wizkid released his latest album ‘Sounds From The Other Side’ and it features international artists; Chris Brown, Ty Dolla Sign, Drake, Trey Songz to mention a few.
The album is a solid release which definitely represents Africa to the world. More tasteful considering that Wiz decided to bring on all these international artists to vibe to the African flavour and add their touch to his sound. The album is a clear indication that Wiz has matured and his sound is solid and on another level stepping from his 2014 album ‘Ayo.’ The sound of the entire project consists of more African elements, persuasive Afrobeats and groovy dancehall.
Here are the 5 tracks we’re jamming to on the album:
Sweet Love
A perfect introduction to the album – Sweet Love is slow jam and a laid-back song with pure afrobeats elements. It was in early March Wiz relesed the video for thics particular song. Just like the storyline in the video, the song is about love and good vibez from his fans and the people during his travels around the world. This is another supa duba production by SARZ.
Come Closer feat. Drake
Already an anthem, this another solid collabo from Drake and Wiz, following their recent work on; ‘One Dance’ and ‘Ojuelegba’. The sound brings on the dancehall flavour making the song a sing-along with that simple Wizkid chorus. This is another production by SARZ.
Naughty Ride feat. Major Lazer
This is a relaxed, dancehall and laid-back jam produced by Major Lazer. On the jam, Wiz is begging this lady to stay on after a late night hook up. You will notice that the chorus features an interpolation of Bob Marley & the Wailers‘ ‘Ride Natty Ride.’ his is a song off Bob Marley & The Wailers’ 1979 album Survival.
One For Me feat. Ty Dolla Sign
Wizkid teamed up with Ty Dolla Sign for this groovy Afro jam. The song is produced by American hitmaker – DJ Mustard. You can consider this a love jam or just something groovy with that dancehall flavour to it. Ty Dolla Sign’s delivers a solid chorus (sampled from SWV’s 1996 jam – You’re the One) with his singing making the song fruitful and melodic.
All For Love feat. BUCIE
Bringing it back home, Wizkid decided to team up with DJ Maphorisa on production and BUCIE on the vocals. This is simply a wonderful House Music banger, with simple elements to the beat and both Wiz and BUCIE adding serious flavour to the vocals part. Word from Bucie is that this song was recorded ack in 2015.
