Rapper, Reason came out with guns blazing, aimed straight at the SAMAs (The South African Music Awards).
The rapper went to Twitter and simply asked them why his “Love Girls” Album was rejected as an entry. But he didn’t only do that, he schooled them abit about how times have changed. Yes, he simply asked them to simply be progressive. In his explanation, he submitted his recent album (none that the album was only released digitally) and it was rejected because it did not release on hard copies. He says that he decided to release the album as a strictly digital release because of obstacles such as physical distribution.
Because of the internet, artists now have a number of ways to release their music digitally, and this is just a dope path. With that change in place, Reason had to remind the SAMAs of the poor CD sales which presented distributors with ‘various limitations.’ And he went on to give them reasons why doing the digital release was a winning point for him:
1. The album is available worldwide
2. AVAILABLE ON ALL CELLPHONES!
3. Reason fans are digital consumers (since the freestyles 4 years ago)
4. CD stores are closing slowly cause people stream now.
5. And It’s more affordable.
And here’s the entire thread of tweets:
