Twitter could soon make it easier for users to get the blue badge. Yes verified!
The platform has been quite stingy with verifying profiles but escalated nicely in recent years (even for most of SA profiles), until their questionable act when they reportedly verified white supremacist organizers of the Charlottesville rally.
The company went on to pause all general verifications, after an announcement last year November.
Verification was meant to authenticate identity & voice but it is interpreted as an endorsement or an indicator of importance. We recognize that we have created this confusion and need to resolve it. We have paused all general verifications while we work and will report back soon

CEO of the company, Jack Dorsey revealed this past Friday that the company intends to find a way to allow all users to verify.
“And to do it in a way that is scalable, where we’re not in the way – and people can verify more facts about themselves, and we don’t have to be the judge and imply any bias on our part,” Dorsey said in 47-minute long Periscope livestream.

With this step, Twitter intends to highlight the proof of identity factor. It is not revealed how the new verification will work.
