The first ATM pharmacy was launched today in Alexandra township.
This innovation is able to capture, select, dispense, label and directly convey prescribed medication to patients. The Gauteng Department of Health and Right to Care launched this ATM pharmacy to help residents in Alex who suffer from chronic illnesses to avoid the waiting and long queues when they have to collect medication.
Patients are required to use their ID and pharmacy card when using the system.
The ATM pharmacy will be accessible 7 days a week located in Alexandra Plaza. And more can be expected to launch in areas like Soweto and Diepsloot.
