‘Avengers: Infinity War’ made R24.6 million at the local Box Office

Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Infinity War debuted with a new record on opening weekend – to become the biggest opening day and weekend of all time in South Africa

In South Africa, the film took in nearly R24.6 million at the Box Office, with over 287k attendances for its opening weekend, including Thursday night previews. This debut ranks as the biggest industry opening weekend ever in South African Box Office history. Friday 27 April also saw Avengers: Infinity War take in over R8.4 million, the biggest industry opening day ever at the local box office.

 

 

Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War came out with an estimated global opening of $630 million – setting a new record. Avengers: Infinity War now becomes the highest global opening weekend of all time, taking over from The Fate of the Furious ($541.9 million).

Elsewhere on the continent, Avengers: Infinity War has become the biggest opening weekend of all time in West Africa with over N137.4 million. The film achieved the biggest April and second highest opening weekend (after Marvel Studios’ Black Panther) in East Africa with over kes 23.4 million.

Also in cinemas, Marvel Studios’ Black Panther continued its historic run at the South African Box Office with the film passing an unprecedented R105 million with nearly 1.4m attendances.
