The Soweto International Jazz Festival will be making its debut in June and will take place for four days, and each day of the festival will feature its own theme.
Canadian R&B singer-songwriter Deborah Cox and American musicians Charlie Wilson and Raheem DeVaughn will be part of the lineup.
Other artists on the lineup include Dumstafunk, OneVille, Kreesha Turner, Gordon Chambers, Third World, Bob James, Spyro Gyra, Neville Brothers, Ernie Smith, Zama Jobe, Mi Casa, Sho Madjozi, Soweto Choir, Leanne Dlamini, Nasty C, Lady Zamar, Major League DJz and Khaya Mthethwa.
The four-day celebration is also a tribute to Hugh Masekela and Nelson Mandela’s 100th birthday and the festival will feature five indoor/outdoor stages with non-stop music throughout the four days of events, as well as panels and master classes.
The Festival also promises to curate a marketplace featuring local vendors from Soweto and surrounding areas.
The Soweto International Jazz Festival is set to take place June 14-17th 2018 at the Johannesburg Theatre Group’s, State of the Art Soweto Theatre Festival Complex.
