Social Media has been a buzz after Riky Rick hit #SAMA24 red carpet wearing an interesting designer outfit.
Riky Rick was wearing CHULAAP, label by Chu Suwannapha – a Cape Town-based designer known in fashion scene as the “Prince of Prints,” creating bold, eccentric prints based on traditional African patterns for his label.
The same outfit Riky was wearing is from CHULAAP’s latest collection which was showcased at ARISE Fashion Week (in Nigeria) in April 2018.
This should be a celebratory moment or atleast a proud one for the industry, that we atleast have someone who is willing to push our culture forward and not afraid to express himself either be in fashion or music.
Riky is no stranger to the fashion scene and going an extra mile to express himself. And one thing we cannot take away from him is his bold attitude to stand out.
Riky Rick has been criticized before for his fashion sense – and this could only mean people will continue to always do even in years to come, because he is willing to push the envelope further when it comes to making fashion statements – and only a few will get it and embrace it.
And what we saw evolve after the red carpet appearance at #SAMA24, proves how Riky Rick is influential. The #RikyRickChallenge went buzz same evening when fans started imitating his CHULAAP outfit. That’s what we call ‘influence’ and it’s authentic and effortless.
This is not the first time Riky shows love to this label, back in 2016, he graced the cover of Grazia wearing CHULAAP’s beautiful prints.
