The original PlayStation x Nike Air Force 1 from 2006 (same year Sony released the PlayStation 3) is one of the most anticipated sneakers of all time, and to date, most sneakerheads are still hunting them.
Well, good news for 2018 because Nike and PlayStation have reunited to work on another Air Force 1 collaboration.
It began with a storied shoe called the Air Force 1 in a PlayStation-inspired design produced in 2006. Blending an icon that knows no boundaries in the Air Force 1 with a means of entertainment that connected people all over the globe, the collaboration was instantly coveted.
But before the shoe was unveiled, the Nike product design team worked closely with PlayStation to come up with the design. This process began with a premium leather sample with laces in red. When the PlayStation team finally got their hands on it, they knew they had something special that deserved to shine. That shine was provided with the addition of patent leather to the shoe’s toebox, eyestay and midfoot panelling. Purple laces would replace the red, topping off a design that screamed PlayStation. Complete with the striking fade at the heel and the timeless PlayStation logo, this would become the PlayStation x Nike Air Force 1 as we know it today. A meticulously crafted design that perfectly embodied the collaborative efforts from Nike and PlayStation.
FOR 2018…
Fast forward to 2018, Nike and PlayStation will be working on another Air Force 1 collabo.
A recent leak from reputable py_rates revealed that PlayStation and Nike have something in works for 2018 and the latest version of most identifiable Swoosh shoe features a mesh-looking upper, with panelling on this edition covered in PlayStation embossed patent leather similar to the PG2. The shoe is covered mostly in navy blue and black, highlighted by a galaxy print midsole. The Swooshes on each shoe are mismatching colours, for a total of 4 that each takes the special Pantone of a PlayStation controller button. One shoe will feature pink and red, while the other will take on the blue and green. The lateral side of the heel will carry the old-school PS logo found on the 2006 pair and known worldwide by gamers.
