SABC recently announced that Robert Marawa will return to radio at the SABC.
Marawa will return to SABC to host a new show on Metro FM and Radio 2000. A recent report by Sunday World reveals that he scored a 3-year contract worth more than R5 million. The contract is effective from 01 June 2018 till 31 May 2021 with a pay of R7 000 per shift.
“Marawa is set to become the second highest sports radio presenter at the SABC with a monthly salary of R154 000. The contract indicates that Marawa is set to earn an annual salary of R1.8 million and, by the end of his contract, he would have earned at least R5.5 million.”
Sunday World further reveals that Andile Ncube remains highest sports radio presenter from his one-hour sports show, which earned him R7 500 a shift, R165 000 salary and an annual of R1.9 million.
Marawa’s show will broadcast nationwide over a two-hour period (6-7pm on Metro FM & 6-8pm on Radio 2000) with an August launch date to be released soon.
This new appointment of Robert Marawa on both Metro FM and Radio 2000 speaks volumes of the magnitude of his brand, and we can only expect greater things from the award-winning sportscaster when he makes history with his on-air radio return this August.
Marawa parted ways with SABC back in 2017 and it was later rumoured that he will be joining Radio 2000.
