The Nike Air Force 1 “PlayStation”

There are few sneakers as coveted as the Nike Air Force 1 PlayStation. The first release was originally given to friends, family, and contest winners in 2006, with a few more pairs circulated in 2009.

12 years later, the Air Force 1 PlayStation ‘18 QS is the first version to be released to the public with an exclusive launch at E3 2018 in Los Angeles.

Inspired by the look of contrasting matte and gloss finishes on the innovative PlayStation 4, Nike designers decided to pair premium leather and patent leather on the new shoe. Patent leather shines through on the lateral side, while the matte premium leather takes place on the medial side, directly tying back to the PlayStation 4’s unique design.

They applied PlayStation’s signature “sacred symbols” to a first-of-its-kind holographic jelly swoosh and heel tab, which reference the Nike Air Force 1 Jewel. Down below, the PlayStation’s “sacred symbols” can also be seen through the shoe’s translucent outsole.

“The jelly concept is a bolder take that’s playful at the same time,” says Al Baik, Senior Creative Director of Nike Sportswear. “The upper is all black to allow all of those components to pop. There’s premium detailing throughout—rolled edges, metal aglet accents, and a clear outsole. Fresh off of the 35th anniversary of the Air Force 1, we wanted to continue celebrating one of the most coveted models of all time.”

So while the official release date is still pending, check out the rest of the images below:
