Amanda Black, who recently announced her exit from Ambitiouz Entertainment is now taking some legal action.
The singer has filed a R1 million lawsuit against the label and former boss – Kgosi Mahumapelo, Sunday Sun reports.
In details, it’s revealed that she is accusing Ambitiouz of breach of an exclusive management. The report further reveals that Amanda has not received any money for her gigs between December 2017 and April 2018, and further accuses the label of not giving her the full share from R200 000 she received with an award at Metro FM Awards last year.
“The defendant in March provided the plaintiff with a bookings report reflecting bookings of previous months, which includes a split of the plaintiff’s performance fees to cater for permissible deductions, management commision and the amount due to the plaintiff.”
From the booking report provided by the label, it’s established that money due to her amounts to R964 526.32.
The label is no stranger to losing artists even after a massive fallout they had back in 2017, when they lost B3nchmarq, Fifi Cooper and A-Reece.
Amanda and the label could not agree on certain terms which prompted her to seek a new team to help her grow her brand.
“I am very grateful for Ambitiouz Entertainment and how far we have come. I am embarking on a new journey and I needed a team that would work with me in realizing the plans and dreams I have for my career going forward. The new management looks after my bookings, brand and publicity as well as assisting me reach wider audiences in Africa and beyond” says Amanda.
The label still remains home to EMtee, Sjava, Saudi and other acts.
