Japanese streetwear brand A BATHING APE® has teamed up with adidas Originals to release a new collaborative collection.
The “ADIDAS Originals by A BATHING APE®” collection adopts the all over print based on the 1st CAMO of BAPE® to the timeless adidas apparel “adicolor”. It is an exclusive finish in which ducks are fused to the four colors of the characteristic tonic of adicolor called red, black, blue and original green. The concept of ‘adicolor’, which first appeared in 1983 ten years ago from the birth of “A BATHING APE®” brand, has become a platform for self-expression through brilliant color palette and bold color. And the big size trefoil logo, which symbolizes the golden age of the hip-hop scene that BAPE® takes as an inspiration, is boldly decorated as well as its coloring.
The capsule is comprised of timeless adidas apparel style featuring all-over prints based on the BAPE® 1st Camo. Each item is available in four tonal adicolor camo colorways exclusively created between adidas and BAPE®: red, black, blue and the original green. BAPE®’s distinctive elements make for a harmonious collaboration with adidas adicolor, one that fuses bold streetwear iconography to bright sportswear color.
The items are marked with a big size trefoil logo in their respective colours as a homage to the golden age of the hip-hop scene.
They also feature the APE HEAD logo – a symbol of streetwear – and an adicolor x BAPE® minimalist label on the cuffs to fuse both the sports and street cultures of both brands.
First launched a decade before BAPE® in 1983, the adicolor concept has always acted as a platform for vibrant self-expression, told through a palette of bright, block colors. Co-branding is as bold as the colors, with large adidas trefoil logos calling to mind a golden age of the hip-hop scene that BAPE® often draws influence from.
