Cassper Nyovest has now joined forces with Universal Music Group.
The rapper has signed a partnership deal with Universal, which will help with releasing and distribution.
For years, Cassper has been against the idea of being signed to major labels and that’s why he created Family Tree with partners.
Last month Cassper did hint he could sign to a label because of other frustrations including not charting on radio and iTunes.
‘I’m not signed to Sony. I’ll never have a number 1 single in my career unless I share the cake with a major label. They run the charts, from iTunes to radio. They have all the data, the man power , the connections. Maybe it’s time I did. The next step definitely needs muscle,’ he posted on Twitter.
Further to the news, Cassper announced a new album dropping on 01 December 2018 will be distributed at #FillUpMosesMabhida concert. According to the rapper, this will be a kwaito-influenced album titled ‘Sweet & Short’.
.@CassperNyovest just announced an album is dropping in 2 weeks, #SweetAndShort.
He has a new single dropping tonight #SpononoSam feat Shwi Nomtekhala
And @Nadia_nakai's album is almost done.
