Following collaborations with the likes of Patta and Carhartt, to kick-start 2019 Nike has linked up with Tokyo-based streetwear label CAVEMPT to release the retro-styled capsule collection which includes the iconic Air Max 95.
For those unfamiliar with the Japanese brand, Cav Empt, aka C.E., is a streetwear clothing label headed by Sk8thing and Toby Feltwell. Sk8thing is responsible for definitive branding and graphic aesthetics behind such seminal brands as BAPE®, Billionaire Boys Club/Ice Cream, HUMAN MADE and WTAPS. Feltwell maintains a considerable career, working with Mo’Wax records as well as closely alongside NIGO®. Named after the Latin term caveat emptor (buyer beware), and resembling the Conformité Européenne (CE) imprint, the brand plays with themes of consumerism and conformity. A Tokyo-based brand with London influences, Cav Empt injects graphic-heavy designs into reinterpreted menswear classics with relevant social commentaries.
The Nike x Cav Empt Air Max 95 is offered in Blackened Blue/Desert Ore and White/Stealth/Black colourways. Both shoes feature a premium leather construction with mesh accents and a distinctive pattern resembling a blend of digi-camo and pixels. Completing the design is the CE+ Swoosh oval logo on the tongue.
Look out for the Nike x Cav Empt Air Max 95 pack to release on Thursday, 10 January 2019 on Nike.com, for the retail price of R 2,799.95 each.
