Back in 1991, Michael Jordan debuted the Air Jordan 6 ‘Infrared’ during All-Star Weekend in his home state of North Carolina. The silhouette, designed by Tinker Hatfield, was originally inspired by the sleekness of Michael Jordan’s German sports car.
The shoe was originally released in 1991, then retro-ed in 2000, 2010, and 2014. This year marks the first time since 2000 that the Air Jordan 6 ‘Black Infrared’ will return with OG-style Nike Air branding.
The shoe is covered in black nubuck for its upper with infrared detailing on the midsole, heel, and the lace locks. Finally, the clean style is topped off with an icy translucent outsole, including embroidered Nike Air logos on the heels and reflective 3M underlays.
