Pearl Modiadie and Thomas Msengana to host this year’s SAFTAs

This year’s 13th Annual South African Film and Television Awards (SAFTAs 13) will be hosted Metro FM’s Thomas Msengana and Pearl Modiadie.

The powerful radio duo from Metro FM’s Lunch Time Show, the seasoned Thomas Msengana, and award-winning television presenter, radio DJ, actress and producer, Pearl Modiadie, will for the first time be joining SAFTAs as the main hosts.

The primary objective of the SAFTAs is to honour, celebrate and promote the creativity, quality, and excellence of South African Film and Television talent and productions, and to encourage entrepreneurship and the development of new talent within the industry.

The awards have been praised and at the same time criticized when it comes to picking the nominees list. It is no surprise to see two of South Africa’s popular soapies Generations: The Legacy and Muvhango distancing themselves for the awards. Both shows did not submit for entries.

The award ceremony will take place on 02 March at Sun City and will broadcast live on SABC 2 from 7pm.
