Chef Dee in association with Hot Head Media are about to put the fun back into cooking again come Saturday, 16 March at Get Cooking@Lifestyle.

Cooking with Chef Dee is a fun, intimate and interactive cooking sensory experience where guests get to create mouthwatering dishes alongside Chef Dee.

“The idea is to create simple, yet delicious meals using familiar cooking ingredients. We will be introducing various ways to use one ingredient to create several dishes,” says Chef Dee.

Cooking with Chef Dee sessions will be hosted once a month, with the first one kicking off between 10am and 2pm Saturday, 16 March at Get Cooking@Lifestyle – situated Cnr Beyers Naude Drive and Ysterhout Street.

This month the spotlight is on Puff Pastry (also known as pâte feuilletée – a flaky light pastry made from a laminated dough composed of dough and butter or other solid fat. The butter is put inside the dough, making a paton which is repeatedly folded and rolled out before baking). It was invented in about 1645 by a French pastrycook’s apprentice named Claudius Gele.

“Puff Pastry is one of the most popular ingredients in the kitchen, not only because it’s easy to use, but because it allows you to be more creative while creating mouth-watering dishes in a short space of time,” says Chef Dee.

This super versatile ingredient is well-known for creating dishes such as Beef Wellington, Sausage Rolls, Pies, Tarts as well as Cheese & Cinnamon Straws.
