BET Africa has announced an upcoming biopic based on the life of the late superstar – Lebo Mathosa.
Titled ‘The Lebo Mathosa Story’, the biopic will be based on the singer’s incredible life story while taking viewers on a journey to the 90s for a taste of the kwaito revolution.
The channel has further announced that they will have open auditions to get someone who will play the legendary musician.
The auditions will take place on Sunday, 31 March 2019 @ Sky Rink Studios (Johannesburg) from 8am.
Mathosa first hit the big time as part of the popular kwaito group Boom Shaka, which also featured Thembi Seete, Junior Sokhela, and Theo Nhlengethwa. Besides Boom Shaka projects, Lebo has 3 albums under her name; Dream (2000), Drama Queen (2004) and Lioness released in 2006.
Mathosa passed away in October 2006 in a car crash, after her driver lost control of her vehicle in Johannesburg.
