It all sparked when Diddy posted a new ad promoting the new Cîroc Summer Watermelon flavour.
Now, Cassper Nyovest who is an ambassador for Cîroc made it clear on social media that they don’t want the flavour here in South Africa. We all know it all goes back to his rivalry with AKA, who is representing Cruz and has a watermelon flavour of the bottle.
Seeing anything watermelon, AKA posted on social media telling Diddy he should come down to SA.
It’s clear that both rappers have been blowing their own horns when it comes to ‘who’s got the best deal’ on this.
Now a statement by Diageo SA states that ‘there are currently no plans’ to bring the flavour here in South Africa.

“Diageo SA would like to confirm that there are currently no plans in place to bring the Cîroc Summer Watermelon flavour to the South African market. We understand that the launch of the aforementioned flavour has caused major confusion on social media over the past week. However, we would like to state that Cîroc rolls out different flavours seasonally, due to regional demand and the launch of Watermelon variant will be rolled out in some markets excluding South Africa.”
Well, it will be ofcourse unreasonable to think Cassper Nyovest is the reason the company won’t bring the flavour to our shores. It is highly possible that in future we will see the Cîroc Watermelon on our shelves. The flavour already exists and when the demand exists, the distributor is forced to ship it in regardless.
Brand ambassadors do not have any voice when it comes to the decision-making part, they only represent the image and the product being sold.
But it is interesting to see the battle of both rappers praising the brands they represent. Like none of them even has to market and advertise, the trend about the Cîroc vs Cruz already exists because of their influence and impact.
Not only this paints a bigger picture of how both rappers are influential, but also the Hip-Hop industry has a major impact in the business space.
The buzz has gone as far as creating a #HareBatleMagapuMo conversation on social media. Fans are up against each other sharing their views on who takes reign.
