Apple will be completely shutting down iTunes in the upcoming OS, macOS Catalina releasing in a few months.
When users update their OS they will find iTunes gone and will find the platform split into three new apps: Apple Music, Apple Podcasts and Apple TV.
Users will not have to worry about their old library, it will be imported from iTunes in their entirety and this includes music purchased on iTunes, rips from CDs, MP3s.
Apple Music will not only be a streaming service, but users will still be able to buy music and key features will be retained in the Music app.
Users will still be able to sync between iPhones, iPads, and iPods within Finder, Apple’s file-management application. When the device is plugged in they will be presented with an interface similar iTunes one.
iTunes will continue to exist for Windows users and won’t be split into apps; and will continue to work like before.
