Seems more African artists are showing South Africa a cold shoulder.
Nigerian singer, Tiwa Savage is the latest artist to distance himself from performing in South Africa. The singer announced that she will no longer be coming to South Africa for her performance at the 2019 DStv Delicious Festival.
Following the recent xenophobic attacks in South Africa, African artists have come out in numbers to speak out and call out the local government.
Savage was booked to headline the festival alongside Corinne Bailey Rae, Raphael Saadiq, Ten City and Tortured Soul later this month.
“I refuse to watch the barbaric butchering of my people in SA. This is SICK. For this reason I will NOT be performing at the upcoming DSTV delicious Festival in Johannesburg on the 21st of September. My prayers are with all the victims and families affected by this,” she posted.
The news follows after Burna Boy announced he will not set his foot in South Africa.
“I will NOT EVER go to South Africa again for any reason until the SOUTH AFRICAN government wakes the fuck up and really performs A miracle because I don’t know how they can even possibly fix this.” he posted.
