The 2019 Mzansi Super League, respected internationally as MSL 2.0, will host its second edition from next month until mid-December with teams once again representing various major South African cities.
The first game between defending champions, Jozi Stars, and last season’s runners-up, Cape Town Blitz, gets underway on 8 November 2019 at the Imperial Wanderers stadium.
What promises to be an action-packed, five-week long tournament will showcase teams from Gauteng’s Jozi Stars and Tshwane Spartans and KwaZulu-Natal’s Durban Heat, to the Eastern Cape’s Nelson Mandela Bay Giants and Western Cape’s Paarl Rocks and Cape Town Blitz.
Whether it’s a match in Paarl’s Eurolux Boland Park stadium, nestled in the Cape winelands, or Hollywoodbets Kingsmead Stadium in the heart of Durban, South Africans can celebrate their sportsmen as well as their beautiful and diverse country.
Spectators are in for a treat as MSL has ensured there is something for everyone. There’s a dance cam to record groovers getting down to their favourite tunes. Families and friends can enjoy a braai in scenic surroundings while rubbing shoulders with Mzansi’s A-list celebrities. Kids can have fun at the Big Kidz Zone as well as beat the heat in our cool down pools at selected matches.
Only in its second year, the tournament is already one of the leading T20 cricket brands in the world, with local rising talent, Standard Bank Proteas big names and international stars applying to participate. With a squad comprising 16 players, each team has big-name Proteas players such as Faf Du Plessis, Kagiso Rabada, Dale Steyn, JP Duminy and AB de Villiers as well as an international Marquee player such as Wahab Riaz (Pakistan), Alex Hales (England) and Chris Gayle (Windies).
The MSL 2.0 is an exciting tournament as it showcases and nurtures young talent and allows players to participate with some of South Africa’s greats and the world’s greats.
Tickets are on sale at R60 per ticket and are available across TicketPro and other retail outlets, including online sales at www.ticketpro.co.za.
