PUMA RS-X³ Super
with BUTCHR and Junk Jakhuzie
For the latest edition of our series, we explore PUMA's latest RS-X³ Super with two young fashion creatives; BUTCHR and Junk Jakhuzie.
With bold colours and details, the RS-X 3 Super is an order of magnitude beyond its forerunner.
This version is inspired by the vibrant hues found in old school video games, a perfect complement for a creative and unconventional style.
Both youngsters have been involved in the fashion and creative industry for years and have been able to observe many trends and styles.
Now focusing on the PUMA RS-X³ Super, we saw a perfect fit to invite BUTCHR and Junk Jakhuzie to style on this silhouette - and talk about their love for fashion.
BUTCHR
Tell us about yourself
I'm a Fashion enthusiast, CD and Stylist. I’m an advocate for sustainability in fashion - which is why I’m an active thrifter and I occasionally upcycle old items that I find at home.
What made you fall in love with fashion?
I fell in love with the freedom that came with it, it’s one of the few purest forms of freedom we still have. It’s an opportunity to do all things possible and be expressive through style and be explorative.
Who are your biggest fashion inspiration?
Biggest fashion icons are Selma Kaci and Peggy Gou.
What’s your all-time favorite fashion trend?
Favorite timeless trends are Animal and Mixed Prints. I find myself drawn to Pastels too.
How are sneakers essential to your daily outfits?
I wear sneakers all the time. They’re the most essential part of all my looks and biggest contributors to my comfortability every day.
Describe how you decided to style the PUMA RS-X³ Super?
I paired my Rs-x3’s with a pastel two-piece with a pink mesh top. To elevate the look I added accessories such as gold chains and dazzled champagne pink sunglasses.
How would you describe the design & comfort of the PUMA RS-X³ Super?
The design reminds me of dissembled toys and the colorway is a refreshing pastel that can make any outfit come alive. It’s extremely comfortable and easy to move around in.
JUNK JAHUZIE
Tell us about yourself
My birth name is Mpumelelo but in this day and age I'd like to be addressed as Junk Jakhuzie to put a stir in the industry.
I'm more of an introvert/extrovert into certain crowds that I surround myself around, and I see myself as a creative who paints and would like to broaden his perspective into designing while I do a side hustle of customizing clothing and shoes.
What made you fall in love with fashion?
I fell in love with fashion for the first time I saw the American culture back in 2007 when the Hip-Hop culture was also evolving into something big and then later did some research on different styles that people wear - and the days of BoyznBucks just put me out there more into expressing my style.
Who is your biggest fashion inspiration?
My all-time favourite inspiration has always been Okmalumkoolkat who put me into the fashion perspective and then later to discover the likes of Kabelo Kungwane and Wanda Lephoto (TheSartists) and the likes of Scoop Makhathini.
What’s your all-time favorite fashion trend?
It has to be vintage wear because of the colours, although I like to mix it up a bit and put my own style to it.
How are sneakers essential to your daily outfits?
They're a huge essential for the outfits I wear more especially combining colours. So it's all about the type of sneaker that would go with what I wear and without sneakers, I sometimes feel like my outfit is incomplete.
Describe how you decided to style the PUMA RS-X³ Super?
The colours have played a huge role in the all-black dungaree and the red long sleeve t-shirt which made my entire look feel bold along with this sneaker.
How would you describe the design & comfort of the PUMA RS-X³ Super?
The design is more stylish and it is very comfortable and it gives freedom to your foot.
PUMA RS-X³ Super
Back in the ‘80s, the original RS (short for “running system”) was PUMA’s innovative, high quality cushioning technology. Today, we’ve rebooted the RS design to create the RS-X – inspired by sport, but made for the street.
PUMA takes its signature RS design to a new level with the cubed, enhanced and extra RS-X³ Puzzle featuring amplified detailing on the upper, layers of texture, a stronger material mix and vibrant colour combinations.
