The historical mini-series is based on the biography On Her Own Ground by A’Lelia Bundles.
In the series, Octavia Spencer chronicles the real-life of black hair care pioneer and mogul Sarah Breedlove a.k.a Madam C.J. Walker, who overcame hostile turn-of-the-century America, epic rivalries, tumultuous marriages and some trifling family to become America’s first black, self-made female millionaire.
Other casts include; Tiffany Haddish as Lelia, Carmen Ejogo as Addie, Garrett Morris as Cleophus, Kevin Carroll as Ransom, J. Alphonse Nicholson as John Robinson and Blair Underwood as Charles James Walker.
The four-part limited series is written by creator Nicole Asher, produced by LeBron James and directed by Kasi Lemmons.
