The number of coronavirus (COVID-19) confirmed cases now stands at 1749, an increase of 63 from the previously reported cases.
There is also another death, bringing the total to 13 deaths.
The deceased was a male who had stage 4 prostate cancer at Parklands Hospital.
In a statement, Dr. Zwelini Mkhize ( Minister of Health) spoke about the concerns of rising numbers at St Augustine’s Hospital in Durban :
“We are concerned about developments at St Augustine’s Hospital. 66 tested positive over the past few days. About 48 of them are staff. The Provincial dept. is engaging the hospital, with a view to closing parts of the hospital down.”
