Amidst the lockdown, most of us are spending time catching up on our favourite TV shows, and thanks to platforms like Netflix for bringing us fire content.

For this month, Netflix will be taking us back with the release of local drama series Intersexions, Hopeville, and the gangster thriller film Jerusalema.

Intersexions will hit Netflix on 05 May 2020, with season 2 to follow on the 12th of May 2020.

Gangster’s Paradise: Jerusalema will start streaming on the platform from 1st May 2020.

To date Intersexions, still remains one the shows that are appropriate to the current time, as it explores how the inter-relationships between sexual partners enable HIV to spread insidiously across society.

Hopeville tells the story of Amos, a reformed alcoholic on a mission to forge a relationship with his estranged son, Themba. When father and son arrive in the dusty town of Hopeville, they discover a mean little community where apathy, fear and suspicion are the order of the day. When Amos decides to restore the public swimming pool so that his son can pursue a swimming career, he is met with scepticism and resistance from the town’s authorities and its inhabitants. Through patience, determination and above all courage, Amos’ selfless acts ripple through Hopeville, inspiring others to take action and to do what they know is right. Slowly but surely transforming the town and its inhabitants for good.

One of the classics, Gangster’s Paradise: Jerusalema is based on the story of Lucky Kunene, an underworld figure who in the 1990s took over real estate in the Hillbrow neighbourhood.
