South Africa’s most-watched TV show, Uzalo will be going off-air till June due to a shortage of new episodes.
A number of productions were recently suspended due to the lockdown regulations. It is only a week back when regulations were amended to allow productions to continue shooting new episodes.
The Queen, Isibaya and Gomora are some of the shows which are currently off-air due to shortage of new episodes.
However, Generations, Skeem Saam, and The Queen are among those who have resumed with production after weeks of no work.
SABC announced that Uzalo will be off-air from Monday,11 May, and Friday, 12 June 2020 and will make a return on Monday, 15 June.
“The Uzalo production break was carried out in full compliance to the regulations as set by government for the lockdown period, to ensure the safety and well-being of our beloved cast as well as the production crew against the pandemic,” SABC expressed.
The 8:30pm slot will now be taken by Makoti, a relationship drama that looks at modern-day relationships.
