The SAMAs goes virtual and will take place in August

Amid COVID-19 pandemic.

This year’s South African Music Awards (SAMAs) will be going virtual and will take place in August.

The 26th edition of the SAMAs will for the first time go virtual because of the on-going COVID-19 issues.

The awards ceremony themed #ForThaKultcha will happen for five nights 3-7 August 2020 and will be broadcast on Mzansi Magic at 9:30pm.

The Best Kwaito Album category is back, to replace the Best Kwaito/Gqom/Amapiano. This category will encompass Gqom and Amapiano as sub-genres under the kwaito umbrella body.

The Music Video of the Year Award has become a public voted category like the Record of the Year Award, with nominees to revealed on Thursday, 9 July 2020.
