The cinema business has been shut down since the beginning of the national COVID-19 lockdown back in March.
Now with the country under level-2 lockdown, Ster-Kinekor will be re-opening 32 of its cinemas from Friday, 28 August 2020 which will accommodate 50 guests per screening. The other remaining 21 cinemas will reopen from Friday, 18 September 2020.
The company announced this through its social media platforms and highlighted some of the protocols:
Only 50 guests (excluding staff) will be allowed per cinema.
Some seats in the cinema will be blocked to maintain social distancing, while the face mask is mandatory, you will be allowed to temporarily remove it when you enjoy your popcorns.
The company staff will be screened before the cinema is open each day, as well as at each shift.
Temperature screening is compulsory when entering the cinema.
Cinemas will also be sanitized before and after each show.
No transactions will take place in cinema and all movie tickets and snacks must be purchased through the Ster-Kinekor App or on the website.
Contactless ticketing – scan your phone or ticket to collect your snacks / to enter the cinema.
Monday to Thursday, the movies will start from 02:00 pm until the last movie at 09:00 pm.
Fridays and Saturdays, the movies will start from 12:00 pm until 09:00 pm.
Sundays, the movies will start from 12:00 pm until 07:00 pm.
After the show, you will be required to exit the auditorium row-by-row, starting from the back of the cinema.
