This week we bring you a locally produced movie ‘Santana’ as our selection.

The action-drama movie is written, directed, and produced by Chris Roland and Maradona Dias Dos Santos – and stars South African and Angolan actors, including David O’ Hara, Hakeem Kae-Kazim, Rapulana Seiphemo, Neide Vieira and Nompilo Gwala, Paulo Americano and Raul Rosario.

This movie which was shot in most parts of Cape Town and Angola was scheduled for theatrical release in May but was delayed by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Santana tells a story of law enforcement brothers Dias and Matias as they chase down Ferreira, one of Africa’s most notorious drug lords. As they get closer to Ferreira, the brothers discover he is the same man that murdered their parents thirty-five years ago. But Ferreira has fled from Angola to South Africa, and to get to him Dias and Matias must break the laws they were sworn to protect.

The movie delivers a much-enjoyable action with a solid storyline.

Santana is currently streaming on Netflix, here’s a trailer to get you started:
