Showmax will now be allowing users to stream its content for free after introducing a subscription-free option dubbed ‘Showmax Free’.
This option requires no subscription or an account, and a user will not pay anything for watching. However, users will be bombarded with adverts while watching, just like when streaming on free YouTube.
Showmax Free is also limited when it comes to shows and movies to watch. The catalogue includes a few local movies, series and sports shows including Being Bonang, Lockdown, Gomora, The River, Somizi & Mohale: The Union and Life With Kelly Khumalo.
Ad-supported Showmax features a limited content slate and doesn’t include all the functionality available with a paying subscription, like downloads and watchlists. It’s currently available on web, Android and iOS apps. Users will need internet access to use the service.
The service is available via showmax.com/eng/welcome-free to find out more.
