e.tv’s popular soapie, Rhythm City will be coming to an end after airing for 13 years.

The channel announced that the soapie has been canceled and will air its final episode on 16 July 2021.

The soapie is set against the backdrop of the fast-paced South African music industry. Edgy action swings viewers between the streets and clubs of Soweto and the recording studios and radio stations of dynamic Jozi, with a wide range of fascinating characters.

With stories reflecting the real issues that its millions of daily viewers recognize, the grit and reality of the street frequently collides with the glamour and excess of the media and music industries. Often controversial, always gripping, Rhythm City is produced by the highly acclaimed Quizzical Pictures.

Generated by some of SA’s most celebrated creative talent, this weekday drama is a blend of authentic stories spanning the breadth of contemporary youth experience – from the townships to the city suburbs.

One of the show’s unique aspects is its ability to include real-life celebrities and musicians in the action, including Kelly Khumalo, Khuli Chana, HHP, Khanyi Mbau, Kwesta, Slikour, Freshlyground, DJ Cleo, Bucie, Donald, Brian Temba, Pro, Siphokazi and many more.
