For our movie fans, we bring you a list of movies that are a-must-watch this year.
With a bunch of movies to choose from comedy, action, thriller, animation, adventure and horror, we have picked 20 that we think must top your list.
Even though 2020 was a strange year for the film industry due to the COVID-19 pandemic, more movies are slated to release this year, which were delayed. Fans can look forward to movies such as Fast 9, The Matrix 4, Coming 2 America and No Time to Die.

Coming 2 America
(March 5)
Amazon Studios will be releasing the much-awaited Eddie Murphy-led sequel “Coming 2 America” this year.
The movie will exclusively release Prime Video (recently launched on DStv) on March 5, 2021.
Set in the lush and royal country of Zamunda, Coming 2 America continues to follow newly-crowned King Akeem and his trusted confidante Semmi embark on an all-new hilarious adventure that has them traversing the globe from their great African nation to the borough of Queens, New York – where it all began.
Candyman
(August 27)
After being pulled from the schedule for an unset 2021 release, Universal Pictures has confirmed Jordan Peele and Nia DaCosta’s ‘Candyman’ will release on August 27, 2021, at cinemas.
The original Candyman starred Todd as the son of a former slave who is killed by an angry mob after falling in love with a white woman and marrying her. In his afterlife, he becomes Candyman, taking revenge on residents of Chicago’s Cabrini-Green housing projects, which were built on the area where he was killed.
Fast and Furious 9
(June 25)
Universal Pictures had no choice but to delay the release of ‘Fast & Furious 9’ due to coronavirus concerns.
The action-packed movie is now set to release on May 28.
‘Fast & Furious 9’ brings Justin Lin as the director, while Dan Casey will write the screenplay.
The movie cast includes Vin Diesel as Dominic Toretto, Michelle Rodriguez as Letty Ortiz, Jordana Brewster as Mia Toretto, Tyrese Gibson as Roman Pierce, Ludacris as Tej Parker, Enrique Guzman as Simon Toretto, Nathalie Emmanuel as Ramsey, Helen Mirren as Magdalene Shaw and Charlize Theron as Cipher.
And of course the new faces; John Cena, Finn Cole, Anna Sawai, Vinnie Bennett, and Michael Rooker will be part of the movie.
No Time to Die
(October 1)
MGM’s No Time to Die will release on October 7 after many delays due to COVID-19.
The 25th film in the James Bond series is produced by Eon Productions, directed by Cary Joji Fukunaga and features Daniel Craig in his fifth performance as James Bond.
The cast includes Ralph Fiennes as M, Lea Seydoux, Naomie Harris as Moneypenny, Ben Whishaw as A, with Rory Kinnear as Tanner and Jeffrey Wright as Felix Leiter, Dali Benssalah, Billy Magnussen, Ana De Arma, David Dencik, Lashana Lynch and Rami Malek.
The Matrix 4
(December 22)
Warner Bros. confirmed that this year we will get to see the Keanu Reeves’ “Matrix” return in the still-untitled “Matrix 4”.
The fourth chapter of The Matrix has been confirmed with Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss reprising their roles as Neo and Trinity and Lana Wachowski will write and direct the film.
Space Jam: A New Legacy
(July 16)
LeBron James will take over in the upcoming ‘Space Jam: A New Legacy‘, a sequel to 1996’s Space Jam which featured Looney Tunes characters along with Michael Jordan.
Space Jam: A New Legacy is scheduled for release on 16 July 2021.
Black Panther‘s Ryan Coogler will produce the film, with Malcolm D.Lee serving as the director. Lee replaced Terence Nance (of Random Acts of Flyness) as director.
Untitled Spider-Man 3
(December 17)
The untitled Spider-Man (3) will release later this year. This movie will be a sequel to 2017 Spider-Man: Homecoming and 2019 Spider-Man: Far From Home, directed by Jon Watts, written by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, and stars Tom Holland as Peter Parker / Spider-Man, alongside Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Marisa Tomei, Jamie Foxx, Benedict Cumberbatch, and Alfred Molina.
Godzilla vs. Kong
(March 26)
Godzilla vs. Kong is a follow-up to both King of the Monsters and Kong: Skull Island. Millie Bobby Brown, Kyle Chandler, and Zhang Ziyi will all reprise their roles from King of the Monsters. Some of the new cast members include Julian Dennison, Brian Tyree Henry, Jessica Henwick, Demián Bichir, and Rebecca Hall.
A Quiet Place: Part II
(April 23)
Paramount Pictures brings the highly-anticipated sci-fi horror sequel A Quiet Place: Part II, featuring Emily Blunt’s Evelyn as she now leads the family following the death of her husband Lee.
In A Quiet Place: Part II, following the deadly events at home, the Abbott family must now face the terrors of the outside world as they continue their fight for survival in silence. Forced to venture into the unknown, they quickly realize that the creatures that hunt by sound are not the only threats that lurk beyond the sand path.
Emily Blunt returns alongside cast members Noah Jupe and Millicent Simmonds.
Mortal Kombat
(April 9)
“Mortal Kombat” will follow a male protagonist who becomes drawn into the interdimensional tournament, and who begins to realize his true potential as a result of the experience. Directed by Simon McQuoid, the movie stars Ludi Lin, Mehcad Brooks, Tadanobu Asano, Sisi Stringer and Joe Taslim.
Jungle Cruise
(July 30)
Inspired by the famous Disneyland theme park ride, Disney’s Jungle Cruise is an adventure-filled, Amazon-jungle expedition starring Dwayne Johnson as the charismatic riverboat captain and Emily Blunt as a determined explorer on a research mission. Also starring in the film are Edgar Ramirez, Jack Whitehall, with Jesse Plemons, and Paul Giamatti.
Raya and the Last Dragon
(March 12)
Long ago, in the fantasy world of Kumandra, humans and dragons lived together in harmony. But when an evil force threatened the land, the dragons sacrificed themselves to save humanity. Now, 500 years later, that same evil has returned and it’s up to a lone warrior, Raya, to track down the legendary last dragon to restore the fractured land and its divided people. However, along her journey, she’ll learn that it’ll take more than a dragon to save the world—it’s going to take trust and teamwork as well. From directors Don Hall and Carlos López Estrada, co-directors Paul Briggs and John Ripa, producers Osnat Shurer and Peter Del Vecho, and featuring the voices of Kelly Marie Tran as Raya and Awkwafina as the last dragon Sisu, Walt Disney Animation Studios’ “Raya and the Last Dragon” opens in U.S. theaters on March 2021.
The King’s Man

The upcoming sequel follows a collection of history’s worst tyrants and criminal masterminds as they gather to plot a war to wipe out millions. Now, one man must race against time to stop them. Along the way, viewers can discover the origins of the very first independent intelligence agency in director Matthew Vaughn’s latest entry, The King’s Man.
Ralph Fiennes stars in the upcoming prequel alongside Gemma Arterton, Rhys Ifans, Matthew Goode, Tom Hollander, Harris Dickinson, Daniel Brühl, with Djimon Hounsou, and Charles Dance.
Tom & Jerry

Also known as Tom & Jerry: The Movie, the movie is an adaption of the classic Hanna-Barbera cartoo series, which will reveals how Tom and Jerry first meet and form their rivalry.
One of the most beloved rivalries in history is reignited when Jerry moves into New York City’s finest hotel on the eve of “the wedding of the century,” forcing the event’s desperate planner to hire Tom to get rid of him, in director Tim Story’s “Tom and Jerry.”
The ensuing cat and mouse battle threatens to destroy her career, the wedding and possibly the hotel itself. But soon, an even bigger problem arises: a diabolically ambitious staffer conspiring against all three of them. The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It
(June 4)
The movie marks the third installment in the core Conjuring films and will feature Paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren as they investigate a murderer’s claim of demonic possession. The film is based on the trial of Arne Cheyenne Johnson, a murder trial that took place in 1981 in Connecticut. Ruairi O’Connor, Sarah Catherine Hook, and Julian Hilliard also star.
The Eternals
(November 5)
The Eternals is all about a group of immortal humanoids tasked with defending earth is set to redefine the MCU. The superhero movie stars Angelina Jolie, Richard Madden, Kumail Nanjiani, Lauren Ridloff, Brian Tyree Henry, Salma Hayek, Lia McHugh and Don Lee. Directed by Chloé Zhao.
Black Widow
(May 7)
Black Widow sees Scarlett Johansson reprise her role in a prequel. The movie also stars David Harbour, Florence Pugh, O-T Fagbenle, and Rachel Weisz. Directed by Cate Shortland.
Peter Rabbit 2
(April 14)
Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway is a sequel to 2018’s Peter Rabbit and is based on the stories of Peter Rabbit created by Beatrix Potter. The film stars the voice of James Corden as the title character, alongside Rose Byrne, Domhnall Gleeson, and David Oyelowo in live-action roles, and the voices of Elizabeth Debicki and Margot Robbie.
Thomas and Bea are now married and living with Peter and his rabbit family. Bored of life in the garden, Peter goes to the big city, where he meets shady characters and ends up creating chaos for the whole family.
Minions: The Rise of Gru
