Netflix’s new arrival ‘Malcolm & Marie’ is the latest movie everyone is talking about.
This romantic drama movie stars John David Washington and Zendaya as Malcolm and Marie.
The movie opens with Malcolm and his girlfriend Marie returning from a movie premiere celebration. The argument goes into intense when Marie raises the point that Malcolm forgot to thank her in his speech during the event, suggesting a general lack of appreciation for the role she’s played in his life.
The evening suddenly takes a turn as revelations about their relationships begin to surface, testing the strength of their love.
The idea for the project first started when Zendaya contacted Euphoria creator Sam Levinson, asking that if it was possible for him to write and direct a movie during the quarantine. After a few days, Levinson came up with the story for the Zendaya-led film.
Levinson and production partner Ashley Levinson (Queen & Slim) along with Kevin Turen, Washington, and Zendaya personally financed the movie.
Shot on black-and-white 35 mm film, the production took place at the Caterpillar House, a private home in Carmel-by-the-Sea, California, where the cast and crew had to adhere to strict protocols to ensure the safety- and no one was allowed to leave the property.
The movie is currently streaming on Netflix.
