To follow our recent read: DJ Fresh and Euphonik taken off air ‘947’ following sexual assault allegations – today (10 February 2021), Primedia Broadcasting which owns 947 announced that it has parted ways with DJ’s Fresh and Euphonik with immediate effect.
Primedia Broadcasting released a statement that articulates that the decision to terminate their contracts does not reflect a view on the veracity of any allegations against either Euphonik or Fresh. Rather it prioritises Primedia Broadcasting’s business imperatives.
“This decision does not reflect a view on the veracity of any allegations against either Euphonik or Fresh. Rather it prioritises Primedia Broadcasting’s business imperatives. We believe that this decision is in the best interest of our company and our various stakeholders,” said Interim CEO Geraint Crwys-Williams.
He added that the decision was “made after careful consideration of the events of the past weeks and was taken in the best interest of the company.”
Both the DJ’s Fresh and Euphonik have also released a statement stating that they couldn’t find a common ground with Primedia. See the full statement below:
DJ Fresh (Thato Sokwane) was hosting the drivetime show #FreshOn947 weekdays and Euphonik (Themba Nkosi) was hosting ‘Eunite with Euphonik’ every Sunday.
Their last shows on 947 aired on the 15th January 2021 and 10th January 2021 respectively.
