Fans got to enjoy the much-awaited Eddie Murphy-led sequel “Coming 2 America” which debuted this past weekend.

The movie released on Prime Video and local cinema outlets. By just the first glimpse, you can tell there’s a huge gap between the 1988 debut and this sequel.

We cannot ignore the artistic side of this movie for showcasing the African talent, from the cast, music and the eye-pleasing fashion outfitted by Ruth E. Carter.

We can say so much about the fashion sense in the movie, but we couldn’t miss the African aesthetic, prints and patterns, including designs South Africa’s MAXHOSA (Laduma Ngxokolo), Nigerian-American designer Walé Oyéjidé ( Ikiré Jones) and Mantsho by Palesa Mokubung, and the British designer Ozwald Boateng (of Ghanaian descent).

Nomzamo Mbatha takes on the role of Mirembe, and with enough screentime to appreciate her talent. Davido also makes an appearance, performing his all-time classics during a celebration at the Zamunda Royal Palace (used Rapper Rick Ross’ real home).

We also see Trevor Noah taking the spotlight in the movie as a newsreader and the much-noticeable Mi Casa‘s These Streets as part of the soundtrack.

The sequel continues to follow newly-crowned King Akeem and his trusted confidante Semmi embark on an all-new hilarious adventure that has them traversing the globe from their great African nation to the borough of Queens, New York – where it all began.

The sequel stars Eddie Murphy as Akeem, Arsenio Hall as Semmi, James Earl Jones as King Jaffe Joffer, Shari Headley as Queen Lisa, John Amos as Cleo McDowell and Louie Anderson as Maurice, and the motley barbershop crew.

New faces include South Africa’s very own Nomzamo Mbatha along with Wesley Snipes, Leslie Jones, Tracy Morgan, Jermaine Fowler, Bella Murphy, Rotimi, KiKi Layne, and Teyana Taylor.
