A pair of Nike Air Yeezy 1 prototypes, worn by Kanye West during his 2008 GRAMMYs performance are going up for auction for more than $1 million USD via New York auction house Sotheby’s.
These iconic sneakers were worn during Ye’s memorable and emotional performance of ‘Hey Mama’ and ‘Stronger’ at the 50th Annual Grammy Awards back in 2008.
The pair features a black leather upper, in size 12, with a forefoot strap and the brand’s signature Y medallion lace locks in pink.
These prototypes were the first Nike Air Yeezys ever and were unveiled and worn by Ye himself, paving the way for many of his collaborations of today.
One of the most prized and sought-after sneakers in existence, the pair is on offer via private sale from Ryan Chang, renowned sneaker collector and curator of @applied.arts.nyc, and will be on public exhibition from 16 – 21 April in Hong Kong at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.
These Nike Air Yeezy 1 samples are carrying an estimated value of more than US$1 million. The sneakers are available via private sale, with interested parties invited to submit offers directly to Sotheby’s.
