J. Cole is signing with Rwanda Patriots to play in the Basketball Africa League

American rapper — J. Cole is set to play in the inaugural season of the Basketball Africa League (NBA’s new joint league in association with FIBA) for the Rwanda Patriots, according to the New Times Rwanda.

 

 

FIBA’s Basketball Africa League was formally introduced in March this year and there will be three groups of four teams participating in the league’s inaugural season.

The 36-year-old rapper is currently in Rwanda and is set to play between three-to-six games. His first professional basketball play is slated for Sunday, 16 May 2021, a game between Rwanda Patriots against Nigeria River Hoopers.

Cole released a pair of signature PUMA Basketball sneakers (RS-Dreamer) last year and has teased a desire to try out for an NBA team.

The official announcement regarding the J Cole signing is reported to happen this week. In addition, his long-awaited album “The Off-Season” is also releasing this week (Friday, 14th).
