Super Mega famed AKA has withdrawn from the upcoming Huawei’s Joburg Day 2021 line-up.
According to a statement released by T Effect (artist management firm for AKA), the rapper informed the team that at this time he would like to take time out to focus on his current state of mind.
Per the statement:
“The T Effect takes this time to engage the public on the decision made by their artist, Kiernan “AKA” Forbes, to withdraw his participation at this instalment of Huawei Joburg Day, taking place on 28 May. Mr. Forbes, informed the team that at this time he would like to take time out to focus on his current state of mind and out of respect for public sentiment, as he prepares to engage on those”.
The Huawei Joburg Day 2021 virtual concert is slated to take place on Friday, 28 May with the likes of Goodluck, DJ Zinhle, Micasa, Jesse Clegg, Black Motion alongside Brendon Praise, Msaki, and band Prime Circle billed to perform.
AKA expressed his gratitude for the support he has received from Joburg Day organizers and sponsors.
“I would like to thank the 947 and the entire Joburg Day team for understanding and giving me this continuous opportunity to do what I love. I look forward to working with the team again in the future,” said AKA.
