Courtney A. Kemp’s newest Power spinoff series Power Book 2: Ghost is confirmed for Season 2 coming later this year.

A new teaser shared by the network has confirmed that the Ghost spin-off show will be kicking off its second season in November 2021.

This is an expansion to Power Book IIIl: Raising Kanan debuting Sunday, July 18, as well as Book IV: Force coming in early 2022 and Book V: Influence on the pipeline.

The upcoming series will actually be serving as a prequel to the main show and will center around Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson’s titular character, who was killed in a hail of gunfire during the eighth episode of Power’s penultimate season.

Set in South Jamaica, Queens, in 1991, Raising Kanan is a sprawling family drama that revolves around the coming of age of Kanan Stark, who is Ghost and Tommy’s mentor, partner, and adversary. The series centers around fifteen-year-old Kanan, the only child of Raquel “Raq” Thomas, a cocaine distributor with an emerging network of dealers across the city.

The series will star Tony winner Patina Miller, Mekai Curtis, Omar Epps, London Brown. Malcolm Mays, Hailey Kilgore, Joey Bada$$, Toby Sandeman, Shanley Caswell, Lovie Simone, and Quincy Brown.

Much like the original series, Raising Kanan explores themes of identity, violence, and legacy, but it is also a deep dive into the very pathology of family; the unique, complicated, and fraught dynamic between parent and child, mother and father, brother and sister.

Power Book III: Raising Kanan is created and executive produced by Sascha Penn, who is also the showrunner. Executive producers are Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson and Power Universe creator Courtney A. Kemp as part of her overall deal with Lionsgate Television.
