The Space Jam: A New Legacy film officially launched globally at theatres and on HBO Max, however not yet in South Africa.
Due to the current level 4 lockdown in the country, cinemas amongst other businesses were ordered to close down with the aim to curb the spread of the third wave of Covid-19.
Since then, Ster-Kinekor has been pleading with the government to relax level 4 lockdown restrictions and allow the cinemas to reopen.
This has resulted in Ster-Kinekor pushing back release dates for films, including the highly-anticipated Space Jam: A New Legacy.
The sequel to the 1996 animated basketball film ‘Space Jam 2’, is now scheduled to hit local theatres on Friday, 30 July 2021, according to Ster-Kinekor’s site.
Space Jam 2 stars LeBron James teaming up with the Looney Tunes cast to rescue his son from a digital space.
