Power utility Eskom has announced that it will implement Stage 2 load shedding from 4pm until 9pm on Thursday, 22 July 2021.
Eskom says this is due to shortage of generation capacity — generation units at Tutuka and Medupi Power Station were forced to go offline this afternoon, increasing the capacity constraints on the power system.
The units were expected to return to service this afternoon have now been delayed, contributing to the shortages.
In the meantime, Eskom urges the public to reduce the usage of electricity in order to help ease the pressure on the power system and will communicate promptly on any changes to the performance system.
