African publisher, Jacana Media announced that it will be publishing Miss South Africa Shudufhadzo Musida’s first children’s book Shudu Finds Her Magic.
Scheduled to release at the end of August 2021, the book will be available in six languages and with enchanting illustrations by Chantelle and Burgen Thorne.
The book is inspired by Shudu’s own childhood and the bullying she experienced when she moved to a new province and a new school.
She explained that the book is aimed at children aged between 4 and 12 years of age and deals with bullying and the power of friendship.
“I hope that young people will be able to see themselves reflected in the storyline and be able to take something positive away from it.”
Shudu shared her excitement and the importance of her upcoming book in a social media post:
“I am filled with so much pride and joy to present this book authored by myself with beautiful illustrations by Chantelle and Burgen Thorne”.
“A piece of my heart captured on a page, written especially for kids. A story of struggles and hope. Of falling down and getting back up and of the incredible journey we call life!”
“I hope that through my story you will find comfort in the fact that you are not alone, that you matter, that the world needs you! None of us are perfect, we were never mean’t to be and that’s what makes us so special.”
The Shudu Finds Her Magic book will be available in bookstores around the country and online towards the end of August.
