TV and Radio presenter Somizi Mhlongo will be off-air on Metro FM, amid claims that he allegedly abused his estranged husband Mohale Motaung.
According to the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC), Somizi has requested to take some time off from work.
Per the statement:
“The SABC can confirm that @METROFMSA management met with Mr. Somizi Mhlongo and he has requested to take some time off from work. Management has granted Mr. Mhlongo permission to do so”.
The broadcaster distanced itself from the allegations against Somizi.
“The Corporation has also noted the comments on social media about Mr. Mhlongo and we would like to point out that the public service broadcaster does not condone any acts of abuse and violence”.
Mhlongo recently made headlines when a Sunday World report revealed that Motaung accused him of being physically abusive.
