Finally! Disney‘s streaming service Disney+ will be launching in South Africa mid-year (between June and August).
The service will further launch in 42 countries and 11 new territories.
The announcement was made last year in August by Walt Disney CEO Bob Chapek during the company’s Q3 earnings results.
“The launch of Disney+ in Eastern Europe has moved from late 2021 to summer of 2022, primarily to allow for an expanded footprint that will include parts of the Middle East and South Africa,” Chapek said. Summer in the Northern Hemisphere occurs the same time that winter happens in the Southern Hemisphere.
Disney+ (pronounced Disney Plus) is Walt Disney’s popular subscription video streaming service that was launched in 2019.
No specific date or subscription price has been revealed at this moment.

Disney+ offers an impressive selection of films and episodes of content from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, National Geographic, and Star, which includes a growing stable of local and regional content.
When it comes to shows and movies this year, Disney’s studio releases include; Nightmare Alley (28 January), Turning Red (11 March), Doctor Strange 2 (6 May) and Lightyear (17 June).
The streaming service is home to exclusive Disney+ Originals content and specials, including Marvel Studios’ WandaVision, Loki and The Falcon and The Winter Soldier; Star Wars’ series The Mandalorian; Disney and Pixar’s Luca, National Geographic’s Secrets of the Whales, along with Hamilton and more.
Star offers thousands of hours of general entertainment, from favorites to brand-new originals and exclusives. Disney+ is currently available in 61 countries and 21 languages across North America, Europe, Asia Pacific, and Latin America.
