James Cameron’s long-delayed sequel Avatar will finally hit cinemas in December and will be titled Avatar: The Way of Water.
The announcement was made at CinemaCon in Las Vegas.
Avatar: The Way of Water will release on Friday, 16 December 2022 – with the trailer set to exclusively launch in theaters, playing before Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness when it debuts next week.
20th Century Studios shared the official poster through social media, revealing the film’s title on Instagram, and wrote, “Just announced at CinemaCon, Avatar: The Way of Water only in theatres December 16, 2022.”
There aren’t many details surrounding the film. However, per the official synopsis of Avatar: The Way of Water:
“Jake Sully lives with his newfound family formed on the planet of Pandora. Once a familiar threat returns to finish what was previously started, Jake must work with Neytiri and the army of the Na’vi race to protect their planet.”
