After today there will be no new episodes of ‘The Wife’ until the new season.
Showmax‘s hit series will be off-air for a couple of months. The series will wrap up Season 2 today, May 5th and then take a production break. The third season is expected to premiere late this year.
Showmax has commissioned 3 seasons of 40 episodes each, inspired by Dudu’s books Hlomu the Wife, Zandile the Resolute, and Naledi His Love respectively.
The second season premiered in February putting the spotlight on Zandile (played Khanyi Mbau) is the wife of the first brother, Nkosana (Mondli Makhoba). She’s the matriarch of the Zulu family, the glue who held the Zulu brothers together – until Hlomu took over in her absence.
Season 3 will focus on Naledi( played by Gaisang K Noge), a doctor who starts falling for fan favourite Qhawe Zulu (Kwenzo Ngcobo). Like Hlomu and Zandile, she’ll come to understand that loving one of the Zulu brothers means loving all of his dark and tumultuous past. As much as she will enjoy the trappings that come with being the wife of one of those rich, handsome, powerful and dangerous men, she must also live with the inherent danger that remains.
